Enterprise AI is in 1991. Where’s its web?

Author - Enrique Dans

The sixth article introduces the historical analogy that makes the whole argument click. In 1991, the internet already worked, but it was not yet the web. TCP/IP, email, FTP, and servers existed, but ordinary organizations could not build on them at scale until URLs, HTTP, HTML, browsers, and servers created a legible application layer. Enterprise AI is in the same position today. The models work. The infrastructure is powerful. But the layer that makes intelligence usable, repeatable, governable, and buildable by companies is missing. This article names the shape of the opportunity: not a better model, but the web layer for enterprise AI.
